Leader Holstein Kiel unexpectedly fails

Leaders Holstein Kiel unexpectedly made a mistake at home at the start of the second half of the 2nd Bundesliga. The KSC, however, was able to win its home game.

Steven Skrzybski gave the leaders the lead with a dream goal from their own half (11th minute). Fabio Kaufmann equalized shortly before the break (43′). Rayan Philippe then scored the winning goal for the guests in the second half (56th).

While Kiel lost its home game, Karlsruher SC was able to score a three-pointer in their own Wildparkstadion. The Baden team won 2-1 (1-1) against bottom team VfL Osnabrück. Christoph Kobald (4th) and Marvin Wanitzek (55th) scored for the KSC. Dave Gnaase was successful for the away team.

Despite the defeat against Braunschweig, Kiel remains top of the table for the time being. FC St. Pauli can overtake the “storks” on Saturday with a win against 1. FC Kaiserslautern. Braunschweig is still 17th, but the non-relegation places are within reach. Only one point separates BTSV from 15th place.

Karlsruhe is currently in ninth place. Osnabrück remains last. By the time we reach Braunschweig we are already eight points behind. The hope of VfL staying in the league is dwindling more and more.
