Toyota grabbed a double win in this year’s Le Mans 24-Hour Endurance Race.

In the winning car race, # 8 drove Sebastien Buemi, Brendon Hartley and Ryo Hirakawa. The winners toured the 13.6-kilometer-long Circuit de la Sarthe 380 times a day.

Buem was already fourth in the motorsport classic and Hartley third. Hirakawa celebrated its debut with its first Toyota attempt.

For the Japanese brand, the victory was already the fifth in a row. Toyota has made profits in recent years from discount sales, as it has been the only major automaker in the section for years.

This year, the toughest resistance to the two Toyotaes was provided by the American Glickenhaus, which occupied the last podium place in the overall race and in the Hypercar class.

In the LMP2 class, the JOTA team drove to victory Will Stevens, Antonio Felix da Costa and Roberto Gonzalez. The GTE Pro class was won by Porsche # 91 as its driver Gianmaria Bruni, Richard Lietz and Frederic Makowiecki.

Toni Vilander was the only Finnish representative in the competition. Ferrari’s credit driver was in the GTE Am class of his own car park in Ykköskuski, but inexperienced Simon Mannin and gentleman Christoph Ulrichin after a shift, the time difference to others arose too much. The class ranking was eighth.

Vilander has celebrated victory twice in the GTE Pro category for professional drivers.

The only Finnish winner of the overall competition in the history of Le Mans is JJ Lehto. He won the race in 1995 at McLaren and in 2005 at Audi.
