Lazio beat Sassuolo 2–0 and rose to second place in the Serie A table. The gap to Napoli, which is rolling at the top, narrowed to 15 points.
Lazio have five games to play, Napoli six. Even though the championship is not yet decided in theory, in practice the lead is not caught up.
Napoli will play their sixth-last round match on Thursday night in Udinese. Even a draw is enough for Napoli to seal the championship.
Napoli has won the Serie A championship only twice before, in 1987 and 1990. In both seasons, the star of the team was Diego Maradona.
