Lawyers Johnny Depp speak of ‘fair’ trial against ex-wife Amber Heard: “Evidence speaks for itself” | Lawsuit Johnny Depp vs. Amber Heard

celebritiesCamille Vasquez and Benjamin Chew, the lawyers of Johnny Depp (58), believe that the lawsuit against his ex-wife Amber Heard (36) has been ‘fair’. That said the two today on the talk show ‘Good Morning America’. They responded to the criticism of the trial.

The actress’ legal team said, among other things, that Depp won his libel suit because the jury was biased and influenced by the many negative reports about her on social media. “We believe the evidence speaks for itself. The jury based itself on the facts and the decision was also unanimous,” said Vasquez. The lawyers also believe that the actor’s power and popularity played absolutely no role in winning the case. That is “completely incorrect,” Vasquez said.

Restore reputation

Heard was ordered to pay $15 million in damages last week. The case revolved around an old op-ed for ‘The Washington Post’ in which she wrote about her experiences with domestic violence. Although Depp’s name was not mentioned, the actor stated that it was clear that he was meant in the play and that his career and reputation have suffered as a result. The jury agreed with him. Heard has announced that it will appeal.

Depp’s lawyers said the actor is still happy he won. They also hinted that he may not collect the compensation. “Mr. Depp was never about the money,” Chew said. “It was about restoring his reputation and he did it.”
