Lawyer submits a complaint about the Ameland police on behalf of PowNed

Lawyer Jens van den Brink has filed a complaint on behalf of PowNed with the Northern Netherlands police unit about the actions of the police during the broadcaster’s visit to Ameland on December 5.

The complaint is in the hands of the ANP, but the police could not yet confirm on Friday afternoon that it had been received.

A team from the broadcaster went to the island in December to report on the Sunneklaas party, a local party to which people from outside are not welcome. The team was then allegedly attacked and rammed by a car, the complaint states.

Van den Brink previously reported that he was preparing a complaint on behalf of PowNed about the actions of the Ameland police. The police allegedly took little action after the incidents and the PowNed team was unable to report the incident on the island, the statement said. PowNed eventually filed several reports on the mainland. Suspects were later arrested and have since been released, but the suspects remain in the case.
