Law of ‘only yes is yes’: an unnecessary stubbornness

The latent confrontation between the PSOE and Unidas Podemos (UP) about the need to amend the unwanted effects of the ‘law of only yes is yes’ broke out this Monday consecrating the umpteenth crisis in the coalition government. To such a bleeding point that the attempt to staunch it came after a few hours. Given the evidence that the interpretation of the law by some judges has led to the reduction of sentences of some 300 sexual offenders and the release of about twenty of them, and the iron refusal of Podemos to modify the star measure of the Ministry of Equality, the PSOE announced yesterday that it would submit a bill to correct the rule.And finally, UP has assumed that adding new measures, necessary to improve the prosecution of crimes and the protection of victims, it was not enough
