Lautern ascent is not an issue for Schuster

Coach Dirk Schuster doesn’t think it likely that 1. FC Kaiserslautern, who have returned from the second division, will rise directly to the Bundesliga.

“Darmstadt will definitely rise. The team seems to have grown a lot and is also in a great position individually,” said Schuster in an interview with “Sportbuzzer”, the sports portal of the editorial network Germany (RND). “HSV, Heidenheim and Paderborn will make up second and third place among themselves.”

Before the away game in the evening (6.30 p.m. / Sky) at 1. FC Magdeburg, the Palatinate are only five points behind third-placed 1. FC Heidenheim with 38 points.

Schuster does not want to participate in speculation about a possible promotion. “We’re not going to start reformulating our goals now. There’s no reason for that,” emphasized the 55-year-old, for whom staying in the class is what counts first. “Honest work comes first here. We prepare the team every day so that they are competitive. And so far we’ve sold very dearly.”

Schuster led SV Darmstadt 98 from the 3rd division to the Bundesliga from 2013 to 2015. Nevertheless, he does not want to deal with “such topics”: “We will not waste our time and energy on such things.”
