Solder, journalist Laura Haimila tells Haimila in his bubble podcast being an alcoholic.
When I was young, alcohol consumption was still moderate and similar to that of other peers. Haimila drank beer and went to bars on weekends. Haimila says that she was the entertainer of her group and was very vocal.
In January 2013, the situation changed.
– I experienced the greatest tragedy of my life so far, when my partner left this world from time to eternity. He made the decision himself a month after we broke up, Haimila says and adds that until then she lived pretty much in a bubble.
Haimila had the role of an entertainer, which she did not want to give up despite her sadness.
– I thought that you should even stop at the difficult thing. I danced what I wanted. The a and o of everything was that I would have fun all the time. If it wasn’t fun, it was created, Haimila says, referring to creating fun with alcohol.
He drank a few days a week at first and then every day.
– The alcohol behavior changed completely, the booze started to take away, the drinking was completely drunk.
Haimila often drank until the wee hours of the morning and then went to work. At that time, he hosted NRJ’s afternoon.
– Working days started at ten, we went there with red eyes and shaking hands.
In September 2013, Haimila was at her new friend’s record label party, as she herself describes. During the evening, Haimila lost both her wallet and her phone and her memory went blank. Haimila did not remember anything about the conversation she had with her new friend.
Haimila says the next day she realized that something is wrong. Haimila tried to get help from organizations, but she didn’t get it.
Haimila invited her closest friends to evening tea, where she told about her problem.
– I used the term alcoholic for myself for the first time. I said that I have developed a problematic relationship with alcohol, I need you.
Haimila has not drank since then.
– Life continued as it was, I just wasn’t in a hurry.
