The German Ski Federation honors the memory of Laura Dahlmeier.

The German Ski Association has decided to establish by Laura Dahlmeier to commemorate the annual award. The award is given annually to a young athlete who has stood out, regardless of sport.
– We at the German Ski Federation spent time thinking about how we can honor Laura with dignity in the future. He was an exceptional athlete, but above all a special person, a member of the board of the German Ski Association Stefan Schwarzbach told news agency DPA.
The establishment of the award has been agreed with Dahlmeier’s parents, and they have given their support.
– The parents were grateful and supported the idea, Schwarzbach adds.
Dahlmeier, a two-time biathlon Olympic champion and seven-time world champion, died at the age of 31 in a climbing accident on Pakistan’s Laila Peak on July 28.
Dahlmeier’s body is still on the mountain. Before his death, Dahlmeier had hoped that in the event of an accident, no one would risk their life for his body.
