The 117th and final flight of Europe’s Ariane 5 rocket successfully launched from the Guiana Space Center in Kourou, French Guiana, at 7 p.m. local time (midnight Belgian time) on Wednesday. After 27 years of loyal service, the fifth generation of launchers of the Ariane program of the European space agency ESA comes to an end. The launch has already been postponed twice.
