Largest deforestation since 2015 in Brazilian savannah: area almost the size of Flanders disappeared

Deforestation in Brazil’s savanna landscape has increased to its highest level since 2015. Between August 2022 and July 2023, at least 11,011 square kilometers (an area almost the size of Flanders) of native vegetation was lost in the ‘Cerrado’. The Brazilian Ministry of the Environment reported this on Wednesday.
