A total of 32 drivers were tested for drugs. Three drivers are caught driving under the influence of narcotic drugs, including cocaine. Four others were behind the wheel with too much alcohol. “As far as alcohol is concerned, it is not too bad, but the cases we determine are serious,” says Luc Verreure of the Tielt region. A total of seven people had to hand in their driving license immediately.
The check yielded even more infringements. For example, a driver with an active driving ban was removed from traffic. “Unfortunately, we note too often that people who no longer have a driver’s license continue to drive, with all its consequences,” said Verreure. A few vehicles were also not insured or had outstanding fines. Those drivers had to leave their car on the spot.
