Large farmers’ protest in the Netherlands today against nitrogen plans: a lot of traffic nuisance expected | Abroad

Most nuisance is expected in the middle and east of the Netherlands, on the highways A1, A30 and A12† But also around the Hague there may be traffic disruption, it sounds.

A large farmers’ demonstration is planned in the municipality of Stroe in Gelderland, the organizers expect more than 20,000 participants. The entrances and exits of the A1 are closed nearby. The farmers are not allowed to use their tractors on the highway, the police promise to intervene if they do.

The farmers’ protest is against the government’s nitrogen measures. The village of Stroe was chosen as the location for the protest, because it is located in the Gelderse Vallei where the nitrogen plans have the most impact. Organizers hope for “a peaceful demonstration”.
