The chemical company Lanxess will not take over targeted acquisitions in the next few years.

“Our portfolio is now standing, and now we want to get the maximum for our business,” said company boss Matthias Zachert of the “Rheinische Post” (Saturday edition). “We are not planning any acquisitions in the next two to three years. That means: We are not looking for active, but would check opportunities.”

As a reason, Zachert said: “The German economy has not been growing for three years, the market is challenging, plus customs turbulence. We are number one, two or three in almost every business, we want to defend that.”

According to the manager, the company does not see itself threatened by the US tariffs: “The direct effect on Lanxess is neutral. 30 percent of our capacities and our sales are in the USA, we produce in the region for the region. We could even benefit from the tariffs at short notice if deliveries from China are out,” said Zachert.
