Landscape artwork gets 3,000 sunflowers

The installation at the AZ Zeno hospital consists of a gigantic canvas of more than 100 by 60 meters. A giant photo of a man in a fireproof suit. Small perforations have been made in the canvas. The sunflowers will give the artwork a completely different look and interpretation. ‘Closer’ wants to draw attention to the concept of ‘underestimation’, a reference to, among other things, the corona virus and climate change. Wim Tellier: “You have the man in the fire suit in a very self-assured attitude, who thinks he is indestructible. As of today, the sunflowers are emerging as the opposite. They stand for modesty, vulnerability. Those sunflowers will start to grow and will systematically replace that fire suit. overpower and overgrow. And that’s something that’s not expected at this point. What will happen is overgrown and surprises us. We underestimated something and that’s what spawned it.”

You can still view the evolution of the landscape artwork until September 4, there is also a viewing platform.
