Lando Norris does not dislike the McLaren car in which the British driver is driving in Formula 1 this season, but the MCL36 does not fit his driving style at all. He revealed this in the official Formula 1 podcast Beyond The Grid.
“It has been said that the car was not made for my teammate Daniel Ricciardo’s driving style, but everyone thought that the car was made for me. Nothing could be further from the truth,” said Norris, who nevertheless has a solid season and is seventh in the World Cup standings.
,,Not that I hate the car, but certainly at the beginning of the year I struggled a lot in the car. I’m better now, I can deal with it better. In any case, it is far from the ideal car, because I really can’t drive the fastest possible lap in this car. There’s not much else the team can do about it; they are trying to make the McLaren as fast as possible and I am the one who has to adapt.”
Norris has been committed to McLaren for a long time. Australian Ricciardo will leave the British racing stable after this season. His compatriot Oscar Piastri will take over from 2023.
