Aston-Martin-F1 pilot Lance Stroll will not take part in the Spain Grand Prix on Sunday. On Saturday, Stroll qualified in 14th place, but the Canadian will not take his starting position on Sunday, as he repeatedly felt pain in his right hand and wrist in the past few weeks.

The team said that the complaints are related to an earlier break of his wrist, which he suffered in a bicycle accident shortly before the start of the 2023 season. Now he will undergo an operation to fix the problem. “In the past six weeks, Lance had pain in his hand and in the wrist, which, according to his treating doctor, has related to the procedure that he went through in 2023,” said Aston Martin.

“Therefore, his medical team has confirmed that he will not start tomorrow. He will undergo an intervention to fix these problems before concentrating on his recovery.” A week before the 2023 pre -ootal tests in Bahrain, Stroll injured himself during a training session in Málaga – with breaks in both wrists and a broken toe.

He had screws inserted into the right wrist, missed the tests, but returned much faster than expected. Just a week later, he took part in Bahrain at the start of the season, fought himself through despite pain and took an impressive sixth place – Aston Martin started the season.

Now Stroll will miss a race two years after the original injury. At the moment it is unclear whether he will be fit again for the Grand Prix of Canada, his home race in Montreal. But Stroll will do everything possible to be ready for use there.

Through Stroll’s withdrawal after qualifying, Aston Martin will only start at the Spain GP by car from Fernando Alonso. This will only have 19 cars in the grid on Sunday.
