Withdrawal due to new diagnosis
The Lambrini Girls are a British punk rock duo made of Brighton, consisting of singer Phoebe Lunny and bassist Selin Macieira-Boşelmez. In November the duo would go to its 19-day tour through the USA and Europe, but now Macieira-Boşelmez announced that it would withdraw from the live shows to protect her health.
Macieira-Boşelmez informed the news about her Instagram channel. “Hello. I want to talk about something very personal,” she wrote. “To keep transparency to create understanding and to break the taboo to break restrictive diseases”. The 29-year-old said that four years ago a bipolar disorder and autism was diagnosed. After the band’s live shows in 2024, she developed a physical tic that has now developed into a vowel Tic. “That gives me a lot of stress and pain,” she admits.
Sad news for the musician, but the tour will take place as planned. “Our shows continue to take place and I will be on stage when I am able to do so, but on our upcoming US tour, Big Girl’s brilliant Kaitlin Pelkey will step in for me,” assures Macieira-Boşelmez.
“As part of the band, I will be grateful forever that I can make music that enjoys people,” says the musician. And yet: “After extensive tours, I had to deal with my limits”.
Fans reacted with understanding, especially the honesty regarding the stigmatization of mental illnesses is counted as the bassist.
Lambrini Girls: debut album and tour
In the style of the musical Riot-Girrrl movement at the end of the 1990s, the Lambrini Girls deal with topics such as misogynia, racism, toxic masculinity and queer rights in their music. Her first album who let the Dogs Out, which received a lot of attention, was released in January of this year. It is snappy, angry and Popeminist – just the style of the Lambrirni Girls. The “Financial Times” described the debut album of the British duo as “furious and intense”, an energy that they also carry in their live shows.
Your winter tour will soon start, where you will also be experienced twice in Germany:
December 13th – Berlin, Bi Nuu
