Ladies ACV sentenced to playoffs after defeat against DTS Ede

FOOTBALL – The ladies of ACV have not been able to maintain themselves directly in the top class. The team from Assen lost 4-3 to DTS Ede and saw competitor Eldenia win. That is why the team of trainer Sven Krol ends in tenth place and the ladies have to enter the play-offs to maintain themselves in the top class.

“The first half was very tough. We didn’t get involved and played too quickly,” says Krol. At halftime, his team was already 0-4 behind against the renowned Topklasser DTS Ede. ACV needed one point to hold on, but after 45 minutes it turned out that they would depend on the result at Rijnvogels – Eldenia.

“Then you rest with such a backlog, so what are you going to do? Actually, it’s just finished, so we wanted to limit the damage,” says Krol. DTS gave back some gas in the second half, allowing ACV to enter the match better. After the break, Laura Heling put the 1-4 on the scoreboard from a corner kick by Lisanne Dik.

Not much later, Dik was the one who scored the second Assende goal. She completed a beautiful solo from the center line with a beautiful shot over the keeper. With ten minutes left on the clock, Krol decided to play all or nothing, knowing that one point was enough for enforcement.

A few minutes before the end, Laura Heling, again from a corner, completely brought the tension back into the match. “At that moment we were told that Eldenia had won the match,” says Krol. In a final offensive, his team tried to force the equalizer, but the score remained 3-4.

And so no double party for ACV today, who saw the men become champions in the 3rd Division this afternoon. The stay of trainer Krol will (hopefully) be extended by a few weeks with the ladies of ACV. Krol says goodbye to his team after this season and can therefore prepare for the play-offs to stay in the top class.

Eight teams compete for one place in the Topklasse. Next week ACV will play at home against the Tukkers from Albergen. This team finished third in the big league on Sunday. And the assignment for ACV is clear: to win three times for enforcement in the top class.
