The plush toys Labububu once again launched numerous fans in Berlin. In front of the west department store (KaDeWe) there was a long line in the morning. The reason: a new store from the manufacturer Pop Mart, in which there are also the popular fur monsters with the big googly eyes and the pointed teeth.
Already in July there was a big rush to the first labubu store in Germany in the Alexa shopping center. Hundreds were waiting with umbrellas and camping chairs outside in front of the shopping mall on Alexanderplatz – some had traveled from Bavaria or Saxony -Anhalt.
The snake was not quite as long on the KaDeWe – which may also be due to the fact that the school holidays are over. And so it was primarily adults who wanted to get a labubu figure for their children.
There were also many influencers among those present. A woman wore a pink suit – to match a pink labubu in her arm. She was not the only one who brought her label to the KaDeWe.
Not just popular in Germany
A global hype has been created around the label. The fur monsters from the Chinese manufacturer and dealer Pop Mart are cute and ugly at the same time. The trend is fired by a number of influencers on Tikkok and Instagram, which film themselves when the surprise boxes are unpacked.
In China, the laboratory has long been announced. In the shops there are always collectors who carefully shake the surprise boxes to guess at the figure in it.
The toy seller Pop Mart, founded in 2010, is planning a total of three locations in Berlin.
