Fiorello’s statements and the meaning of the word “pennicanza”
On his social channelsin a live broadcast last September from a restaurant in Trastevere, Fiorello and Biggio anticipated something about his return to radio of their program.
«We will be a breath of fresh air” promised the Sicilian showman «When I read that Rai is about to buy Ok the price is right I told myself we had to go back. Pennicance it will be like last spring and it must remain that waywe don’t have to prepare anything, woe betide anyone who comes with an idea. The periods are very bad so we have to return, we need a window of lightness». Fiorello also added that he is thinking of bring the program to the ATP Tennis Finals in Turin from 9 to 16 November.
For those who are not familiar with Roman slang, the term “pennicanza” is a neologism coined by Fiorello himself, inspired by the word “pennica”a very widespread term in the Roman dialect that indicates the classic afternoon nap after lunch. The etymology of the term is particularly curious: “pennica” in fact derives from Latin pendicularwhich means “to be suspended” or “to lean.”
