KV Kortrijk down against KVO, supporters ask the stadium for an explanation

Fraser Hornby gave the coastal team the lead after eight minutes. Massimo Bruno (19.) tied the plates, but Cameron McGeehan (54., 90.+6) kept the three points in the Diaz Arena. KV Kortrijk played for almost an hour with ten men after a second yellow card for Habib Keita (34.)

The West Flemish game was soon spiced up with a goal. Hornby curled a free kick through the post into goal: 1-0. KV Oostende could not enjoy the lead for long. After a nice combination, Bruno kicked the ball past KVO goalkeeper Phillips. Messaoudi almost gave KV Kortrijk the lead not much later. Phillips pushed his bolt against the bar.

Just as the visitors took control of the match, Keita picked up a very avoidable second yellow card. With one man more, KV Oostende pushed on after the break. After some nice dribbles from Sakamoto, Hornby headed the ball against the post, but McGeehan was well followed: 2-1. Hornby was close to a third goal from Ostend, but the detached striker went wide. And Ambrose then stepped within the reach of KVK goalkeeper Ilic. That’s how Ostend played with fire. Watanabe just headlined about the KVO goal. The Japanese threatened again a little later, pushing the ball against Phillips with his thigh.

In the end, deep into stoppage time, McGeehan cleared up any last doubts. In the stand, KV Oostende sneaks out of the danger zone. With 17 points it jumps to 14th place. KV Kortrijk remains 16th with 12 points.

Dissatisfaction with supporters

The dissatisfaction among KVK supporters is great: after the game – it was already after midnight – a delegation of about 150 people went to the Guldenspoor Stadium, to ask the board and the players for an explanation, at the board they didn’t get anyone to grab. The police came to defuse the situation on the spot and escorted most of the fans away.
