Kuurne celebrates its 900th anniversary with its own hymn

On the occasion of the birthday of the municipality, Kuurne had an official hymn composed by the Kuurn composer José Wylin. It is a composition that feels very cinematic with, how could it be otherwise, braying donkeys. “The hymn is about pride. There is a small break, where you even hear the donkeys braying. It is about being proud, being happy, being a donkey, in short, it reflects Kuurne as a warm municipality,” says mayor Francis Benoit proudly.

More than 50 events

A hymn is an ode, a lofty song of praise and in this case for the 900th anniversary of Kuurne. There are more than 50 events coming up this year to celebrate the municipality’s birthday, from sports games to commemorations. The sounding of the Kuurnse hymn should not be missed at these official events.
