Conversations with the city of Kortrijk first had a joint swimming pool, but the choice ultimately falls on Harelbeke as a partner. “The swimming pool will probably cost between 8 and 10 million. We will therefore make a contribution, because if the municipality pay everything alone,” says Mayor Van Harelbeke Michaël Vannieuwenhuyze.
That means that all residents, schools and sports clubs of Harelbeke will also use the swimming pool in Kuurne. The new project will not be an Olympic swimming pool with many slides. Both boards want to give everyone the opportunity to learn to swim or to practice swimming. They are still investigating how many jobs the swimming pool has to count.
