16-year-old Osei extended
Eintracht Frankfurt’s sports director Markus Krösche has clearly spoken out in favor of Kevin Trapp as the new goalkeeper in the German national team and clearly criticized the injured Manuel Neuer for his recent interview statements. On the TV station “Bild” on Sunday, Krösche answered the question of whether Trapp (32) should now become the new number one in the DFB goal after Neuer’s failure: “Yes, I would say that. In terms of his performances, he is currently the best German goalkeeper.”
Krösche noted that Neuer had made outstanding achievements over the years. “But after the injury, I think the situation is relatively clear. Kevin has to be in goal,” emphasized the 42-year-old. Trapp is likely to compete in the DFB team with Marc-André ter Stegen (30) from FC Barcelona for the number one position, both were nominated by national coach Hansi Flick behind Neuer for the World Cup in Qatar. Ter Stegen has kept the most clean sheets of any goalkeeper in the top five leagues this season – 14 times in 19 games.
At the same time, Krösche expressed a lack of understanding for Neuer’s actions, who in an interview with the “Süddeutsche Zeitung” and “The Athletic” had sharply criticized the leadership of FC Bayern Munich for separating from his goalkeeping coach Toni Tapalovic. “These are issues that shouldn’t happen. Ultimately, individuals must not put themselves above the club. No player in the world is allowed to do that,” said the top Frankfurt official. Bayern sports director Hasan Salihamidzic and club boss Oliver Kahn made similar statements.

Krösche is sure that Eintracht goalkeeper Trapp would never make such statements publicly. He would not condone such behavior either. “The club is always the most important thing, so I would have a serious conversation,” he said. Salihamidzic and Kahn had also announced that.
Eintracht Frankfurt’s Krösche: Price tag for Kolo Muani doesn’t make sense now
A possible summer transfer of top scorer Randal Kolo Muani is still not an issue for Eintracht Frankfurt. “We want to continue on this path with him. I’m convinced that Randal will play for us again next season,” said Krösche. Kolo Muani, who came on a free transfer from FC Nantes before the season, is the top scorer in the Bundesliga with nine goals and 13 assists. In Hessen’s 3-0 win over Hertha BSC, the 24-year-old, who has a contract with Frankfurt until 2027, scored twice for Eintracht for the first time on Saturday. “Of course the numbers are right for him, but he also benefits a lot from the way the team plays,” said Krösche.
In the opinion of the 42-year-old, it would do the French Vice World Champion good “to stay with us for a few more years. He’s an outstanding guy and a very, very good player, but just beginning. There are many areas in which he can develop further. He can do that with us,” emphasized Krösche.

Of course you know that Kolo Muani is an interesting player for financially strong clubs because of his top performances. In the TM rumor mill, he has been linked to Manchester United, Bayern Munich and AC Milan for weeks. But it makes no sense to “give a price tag now,” said Krösche about a possible transfer fee. The striker’s market value is currently around 37 million euros. For Krösche it is clear: “If we should ever give him away, the club must have very large and relatively full pockets.” In the January transfer window, Krösche had ruled out a sale, even if a club had offered 100 million euros.
Eintracht Frankfurt extends with 16-year-old talent Derek Osei
Meanwhile, Eintracht extended long-term on Sunday with defender Derek Osei. The 16-year-old Spaniard is playing in the U17 and U19 Bundesliga teams in Hesse and in the UEFA Youth League this season. In November, at the age of just 15, he took part in the Japan trip of the SBU professionals. Alexander Richter, head of the Frankfurt NLZ, said: “Derek is a promising defensive talent in which we see great potential. He is robust, fast and exudes incredible security on the ball. In the past, Derek was used several times by older teams, which took him a few steps forward in his development. In the coming years we would like to carefully introduce him to men’s football. We are very happy that he wants to continue his journey in the Eintracht jersey.”
