With a 26-24 win over Dalto, enforcement in the Korfball League has come a lot closer for Koog Zaandijk. With Oost-Arnhem and Dalto, two direct relegators are known. KZ has a four-point lead over TOP, which is in the third relegation place. The team from Sassenheim still has a make-up game to play.
The team of Daniel Harmzen opened strong tonight in Driebergen and took a 5-3 lead. A run of five points turned the game around and that translated into a halftime score of 14-11 in Dalto’s favour.
After the break, Groen Geel closed the gap, after which the battle continued for a long time. Lisanne de Bruin shot her team back to the lead at 17-17 with two striking balls. Dalto defended himself bravely, but Green Yellow took the win. With eight hits, De Bruin became the top scorer on the side of Groen Geel.
Relegation
Due to the defeat, Dalto was also relegated after Oost-Arnhem and Groen Geel only had to keep one team under them for direct relegation. TOP is the worst with 6 points from 7 matches. Green Yellow has 10 points after 8 matches. If both teams end in a tie, then the head-to-head result will be decisive and that is in favor of the team from Wormer.
Green Yellow is still not completely sure of body preservation. If it wants to avoid play-down matches, the korfball players in the ranking must still pass KCC or Blauw-Wit. The away game against Blauw-Wit is scheduled for March 26, while KCC comes to Wormer on April 2.
