24 new homes in the Heulebrug district, in Heist, are a first step. They will be rented out at a rate of 25 percent below the market price to young people who live and work in Knokke-Heist.
It is a collaboration between the municipality and the WVI. The environmental permit has been approved and RR has already been appointed a contractor. The ambition is therefore 100 such homes by 2030.
“With a view to the future, it is essential that we invest in projects that keep our municipality livable and affordable for everyone,” says Mayor Cathy Coudyser. “We want to give young people a chance to build a life here and to strengthen our local economy.”
The coming months are dominated by the further elaboration and realization of the construction project in Heulebrug. The first homes are expected to be completed within the current legislature. “With the ambition of 100 rented homes by 2030, Knokke-Heist is determined to tackle the housing problem,” the mayor confirms.
