Dennis Schouten was stabbed in the face last night. He was attacked while sitting at the bar in a nightclub in Enschede. “I thank God I didn’t get two inches higher.”
It’s a terrible Saturday for Dennis Schouten. The presenter started the weekend yesterday at the bar of the Aspen Valley nightclub in Enschede when he was suddenly attacked. “I was stabbed in the face with a knife around 3 a.m. last night,” he said in an Instagram post with two shocking photos (see below).
No reason
Dennis states that no confrontation preceded it. “For no reason, while I was talking to a friend of mine at the bar waiting for our drink. Suddenly I was covered in blood… This is the fine you apparently have to pay in 2023 if you have an opinion in the Netherlands.”
He points to his controversial program Gossip Talk. “I take all the risks of my opinion, my work and my program. But what goes through your sick head when you go into town with a knife? I thank god I didn’t raise 5 centimeters, tomorrow I will report.”

It is not clear who stabbed Dennis. He says: “I have decided to communicate this directly because many people have seen this happen. Did you also see this incident? Then please contact the police.”
Dennis and his co-host Jan Roos regularly poke fun at minorities in RoddelPraat. Youtuber Ismail Ilgun, who has a Turkish background, says: “Good luck Dennis, I understand that you think that all this is not possible and allowed. But be careful, around 3 o’clock in the night not the brightest people are walking in the city. Fuck this, get well soon!”
‘Don’t you want anyone’
Eljero Elia, who recently retired as a professional football player, is shocked. He says: “Strength, you don’t wish this on anyone. Be careful.”
There are also people who think that Dennis provokes this himself. For example, one Jeffrey says: “I like to watch your program, but I have noticed that it has become increasingly racist and over the top lately. Words just have consequences on the street. Good luck.”
Bizarre, Robin thinks: “So if someone says something you don’t like to hear, you get permission to commit the most serious category of crime? What’s the matter with you?”
