The central figure in the VfB midfield is bad on the ankle and has to be replaced early against FC Augsburg. Is the DFB Cup final for Angelo Stiller on the brink?

Update from Monday, May 12th at 2:00 p.m.: Diagnosis at Stiller is here

As VfB Stuttgart announced, Stiller has “contracted a ligament injury in the ankle”. This was the result of an MRI examination on Monday morning. According to the association, the midfielder is “not available for the time being”. Whether Stiller can be used in the DFB Cup final on May 24th against Arminia Bielefeld depends on the healing process.

“We hope that Angelo can be used in the final. But we have to wait for the healing course,” says Fabian Wohlgemuth, Board of Directors Sport of VfB in the club announcement. Sebastian Hoeneß had expressed his hope on Sunday evening: “If there is only the smallest chance that we can use or bring it, then we will perceive it.”

Original report from Sunday, May 11th at 10:00 p.m.

The tenth minute of the game of VfB Stuttgart against FC Augsburg, when Angelo Stiller prevailed in midfield and suddenly stopped by guest attacker Samuel dining. The Frenchman violently climbed into the calf area with his foot, whereupon the international kinked clearly. While it was treated, referee Timo Gerach tested the previously imposed yellow card and, in the view of the TV pictures, showed red red.

A weak consolation for silent. Without a shoe and thick bandaged, the midfielder then limped from the field, tears stood in his eyes. It is currently still open whether its use in the DFB Cup final on May 24th against Arminia Bielefeld is endangered. A diagnosis was not yet determined shortly after the injury. Stiller went into the cabin and returned to VfB Bank based on crutches during the second half.

“We do not know yet. But we have to assume that he has a ligament injury. It will depend on how serious it is, whether he can still play this season or not. We may be able to define that more precisely tomorrow,” said VfB coach Sebastian Hoeneß in the sports show interview. “Of course we will try everything and wish him the best. For him, a cup final is of course also a very special game.”

After Stiller, Keitel also has to get out at VfB Stuttgart

Yannik Keitel came into play for Stiller. But the 25-year-old was only granted a few minutes. The midfielder collided with teammate Finn Jeltsch, presumably represented himself and held the back thigh.

Keitel was treated on the outer line, tried to come back again, but had to finally leave the field in the 33rd minute. For him, Enzo Millot came into the encounter. The battered jeltsch also had to get out and was replaced by Luca Jaquez. There had been no such early change in the history of the Bundesliga before.

In the field, VfB defied the bad luck of injury and won the game 4-0 (1-0). Atakan Karazor had taken care of the early lead (8th minute). After the change, Nick Woltemade increased with a remarkable long -range shot (51.), Enzo Millot (80th) and Ermedin Demirovic (87th). With 47 points, the Swabians are ninth. On the 34th matchday, the team of coach Sebastian Hoeneß will compete at RB Leipzig next Saturday.
