Klopp ticks off the Champions League (almost).

The chances for the title are all wasted, the Champions League seems out of reach – but Jürgen Klopp has not yet given up hope of a conciliatory end to the season.

“Now we have to see what we can squeeze out,” said the Liverpool team manager after the 2-1 (1-1) win at West Ham United, the third win in a row.

But Klopp knows: “We’re not in a great position for the Champions League and don’t really have a chance of getting in there.” Nevertheless, the Reds wanted to “give the season a face that we can all live with a little bit better”. This is “our duty,” said the 55-year-old on “Sky”.

He “cannot promise” that it will be enough for European football in the end, said Klopp. Liverpool “missed too many chances, that’s stupid”.

Liverpool only waves the Europa League

However, the 19-time champions are just a point behind Aston Villa in fifth place, which qualifies them for the Europa League. And the competitor has played one more game than Liverpool (32).

In order to qualify for the premier class, Klopp’s team would have to be at least fourth. Third Newcastle and fourth Manchester United have a chance to stretch the gap to nine points on Thursday night.
