Klingel Group carries out restructuring at subsidiary Impressionen

The future of the Hamburg mail order company Impressionen is uncertain. According to media reports, the end could soon be threatened.

At the request of FashionUnited, the parent company, the Klingel Group, confirmed that “a restructuring measure for Impressions is currently being worked on”. The Pforzheim company did not go into details. However, these should be presented as soon as possible, a spokeswoman said by email on Tuesday.

Only this much is officially revealed: “Like any other company, we have to adapt our structures and processes to the current economic conditions.” The management informed the affected employees about the plans last Thursday and is in contact with them.

Is the sender Impressions on the verge of extinction?

The operation of Impressionen could be discontinued as early as the second quarter. This was announced by managing director Sven Axel Groos in an internal letter, which was reported in the specialist magazine Textilwirtschaft on Monday. The Klingel Group did not want to comment on these “rumors and speculations” when asked.

The online retailer, founded in 1996 with almost 80 employees, sells furnishings and fashion. In 2017, Impressionen Versand GmbH was taken over by the Klingel Group. In the most recently published annual report for 2020, after sales of 23.5 million euros, the bottom line was a loss of 4.5 million euros.

The following year 2021 was strong, but 2022 recorded a clearly negative result, the textile industry reported from the internal letter. It also said that while targeting impressions had its limitations, the brand should continue.

According to its website, the mail order company counts Rich&Royal, Mos Mosh and Drykorn among its top brands and thus serves a fashionable audience in the clothing sector. A total of 15 brands in twelve European countries belong to the Klingel Group, including mail order companies such as Happy Size and Alba Moda, but also B2B brands such as Schneider.
