She has been living in West Friesland for thirteen years. At that time she tried out several jobs, but in the end she chooses to turn her hobby into her work. “When I make flowers, I feel happy and happy,” she says.
From poppies to dahlias and from lilies to peonies. There are more than 25 different types of flowers in her house. She most likes the Lotus, a water plant. This flower is very popular in Vietnam, and for her it is not just a flower. “It is a bit of memory of my home country.”
All flowers are made in an environmentally friendly way, because Le only works with organic materials such as clay, wheat flour and glue.
Flowers last for years
This work takes time, says Le. She sometimes works on one flower for twenty minutes, sometimes a few hours. After a day of drying, the clay has become hard, and the flowers are ready to brighten up a home or office. And what is extra special: they stay beautiful for years – sometimes up to ten years.
The technique for making these flowers learned Le in Vietnam. Now she shares her knowledge with others and she gives workshops at her home in Zwaag. And they are now hugely popular. “In this way I try to add some beauty to the world, flower by flower.”
