In Dobbiaco the Tour de ski concludes the first part and moves to Val di Fiemme where the 19th edition of the stage event included in the cross-country World Cup will be decided from Friday to Sunday. The 15km Pursuit in classical technique is all Norwegian with Harald Ostberg Amundsen and Astrid Slind signing a valuable double. Amundsen runs away and gets on the podium with the Swede Edvin Anger, who set the best stage time and achieved the first top 3 placement in a distance race in the World Cup, and the leader of the general classification Johannes Klaebo, the Norwegian phenomenon Johannes Klaebo who now leads the overall just ahead of his podium companions (Anger 2nd at 36″ and Amundsen 3rd at 57″). “I hoped to come first, but it was very hard. During the race they closed the gap from behind and I was quite exhausted. I’m very happy to have won, even if I wasn’t able to increase the lead,” the winner Norge recalled upon arrival. For Italy the best of the day is still Elia Barp, who thanks to an excellent performance is 13th. “Today I did the perfect race, I had perfect materials and my thanks go to the skimen” declared the Belluno native; 26th place for Federico Pellegrino who is now betting everything on the classic technique Sprint at Lago di Tesero and occupies 19th place in the general classification at 2’35” ahead of Barp 20th at 2’36”, with Carollo 26th at 3′ 27″ and Ventura 35th at 4’09”. Martino Carollo from Cuneo was one step away from placing in the top 30, 31st, while Paolo Ventura finished 37th. Excluding Davide Graz, who said goodbye to the Tour after yesterday’s stage, the other Italians reached the finish line as follows: 43rd Simone Daprà, 44th Giovanni Ticcò, 54th Lorenzo Romano and 60th Martin Coradazzi, 72nd and 73rd Giacomo Gabrielli and Michael Hellweger.

women

The women’s race sees a podium that is a photocopy of the Tre Cime Dolomite Individual: the Norwegian Slind precedes her compatriot Johaug and the Finnish Niskanen. Having started with a gap of three seconds from each other, the two ‘norges’ quickly regrouped and with regular changes and teamwork they made a gap behind them, giving 57″ to third-placed Niskanen, who started with 21”, accumulated yesterday. In the final sprint Slind had the upper hand and with today’s victory he also won the glittering gold bib as leader of the Tour overall. “It’s a wonderful feeling, it’s the first ‘gold bib’ of my career! Therese (Johaug) and I have collaborated great, now we move forward day by day, even if I think she is the favorite for this Tour de Ski” declared the winner of the day upon arrival, who took off the bib of the leaders of the classification from behind the American Jessie Diggins, sixth today, more than 2′ behind. Caterina Ganz was the best Italian of the day, finishing her race in 20th place which made her declare upon arrival: “I expected something more, after yesterday’s race I wanted to do better today. I paid a bit at the start, recovering from mid-race onwards. I’m struggling a lot, but the goal is the general classification.” In the general led by Slind on Johaug by 6″ and on the Finnish Niskanen by 28″ (American Diggins fourth, outgoing holder at 1’01”), Gaz is now in 21st place at 5’30”, 27th place Anna Comarella, 35th Federica Cassol and 45th Nicole Monsorno. In the first four days of competition that characterized the Tour de Ski in Dobbiaco, two different winners took turns on the podium for both men and women: Klæbo and Diggins took the victories in the first two stages while Amundsen and Slind shared those of the third and fourth stage.
