For last year’s winner Linus Straßer, the World Cup slalom in Kitzbühel is a long way to go back to the podium. The leading Timon Haugan already lacks 0.76 seconds.

The Ganslernhang in Kitzbühel is shown this year from a completely different side than in previous years. Light rain has softened the slopes before the first round – it is not as icy as usual, but no less selective.

It was best to cope with Timon Haugan in the first run, who set the record with the start number one. Two French and a Brazilian lurk behind the Norwegian: At Lucas Pinheiro Braathen (+ 0.25) and Clément Noel (+ 0.30 seconds) you could expect it. The second place in the meantime is more surprising by Noels teammate Steven Amiez (+ 0.07).

Straßer: “I drove a little too controlled”

For Linus Straßer (+ 0.76) As a ninth place, it should be difficult in the final (1.30 p.m.) to get close to the podium. The 32-year-old has not yet given up: “I didn’t really let go today“, Straßer analyzed his journey on ZDF. But he wants to attack: “Here and there I drove a little too controlled. But the race is decided in the second round.”

Hendrik Kristoffersen (Norway), which leads in the World Cup slalom ranking, has already left the World Cup slalom rating, which already threaded in the upper part of the route.
