Franziska Preuß and Lou JeanMonnot are fighting a hot fight for victory in the overall biathlon World Cup this year. Sometimes the German has her nose on the track, in other races the French woman dominates, who, according to her own statement, see a decisive difference between herself and Prussia.
Eight victories and eight other podium places go to the account of Franziska Preuss and Lou JeanMonnot in the current biathlon season. The duo leads the overall World Cup ranking with a correspondingly large lead. Preuss is currently in front with 879: 787 points, but with her double victory in Antholz, the French woman put a thick exclamation mark again shortly before the World Cup in Lenzerheide.
According to JeanMonnot, the fact that Preuss is currently greeting from the top has to do with a very special quality. “It is just so constant. Even when she has a bad race, the result is still okay in the end, while mine are very bad,” said the 26-year-old after the Antholz persecution of “Le Dauphiné”.
Prussia is constant, JeanMonnot faster
The view of the numbers supports JeanMonnot’s thesis. While she was already in Contiolahti, Annecy and Ruhpolding this winter and passed on the top 10 in some races, Prussia had a raven -black weekend solely in Oberhof with places 20 and 28. In all other races, it was enough for German number one at least fifth place.
What speaks for her, on the other hand, according to JeanMonnot: “On the other hand, my good races are better [als die von Preuß]. “
This assessment also matches the numbers, because while the French woman already celebrated six individual victory this winter, it is “only” for Preuss. Means: caught JeanMonnot a good day, she is hard to beat. If she doesn’t do it, it can go far back – unlike Prussia, who runs the most constant season of her career this year.
