King’s Day 2022 in Zoetermeer: this is what the program looks like

Yes, we are allowed again! After two consecutive years with an alternative party, we can really celebrate King’s Day again this year. Oranjevereniging Zoetermeer has announced the program.

Free market, games, good food and hopefully some sunshine are the trusted ingredients for a successful King’s Day. We had to wait a while for it, but luckily they all (and keep our fingers crossed for summer temperatures) again.

First time for the mayor

On Wednesday 27 April, King’s Day traditionally starts at 09.00 with the aubade on the Markt. This will be the first time for Mayor Michel Bezuijen that he will be allowed to give a speech on this festive day. Then the flag is raised. Normally there is a women’s choir that sings happy songs. This year we can listen to sailor’s choir ‘Geen C too high’.

Be quick

We can stroll and browse the flea market all day long. Do you want to sell your stuff? Then go to the Market or the Dobbe area early to secure a spot. Participation is free and pre-registration is not possible. The orange market goes like a pendulum through the center, from the Market towards the Dorpsstraat. There is generally a spot available for everyone.

children’s entertainment

On the Dobbe Island there are fun children’s activities such as a live puppet show, a bubble show and the scouting is present for entertainment. There will probably also be a water sports club on the water. The little ones can have fun in the Nicholas Park. There is a train, a clown and distorting mirrors. The Natuurtuin association builds bird houses together with the children.

There is music for everyone and plenty of tasty drinks and snacks. The shops in Zoetermeer are open during King’s Day, so you can also shop in between.
