In Britain, May is celebrated in a long way.
King Charles III will be crowned on Saturday, May 6.
British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak has now announced that Coronation Day will be accompanied by a national holiday.
– The crowning of a new ruler is a unique opportunity, Sunak emphasized on Sunday when giving a presentation on the day off.
The day off is Monday, May 8, so the people can celebrate their king for a long weekend.
– I’m looking forward to seeing people gather together to show their support for King Charles III and participate in celebrations across the country, Sunak said.
The coronation of King Charles is celebrated in May in traditional fashion. PDO
Queen Elizabeth’s coronation in 1953 was also followed by a national holiday.
Charles, 73, will be officially crowned king at London’s Westminster Abbey. According to Hov, the coronation ceremony follows a more than 900-year-old tradition.
Camilla will also be crowned queen consort at the same event.
Charles effectively became king as soon as his mother, Queen Elizabeth, died on September 8.
