The Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) have nothing to do with the shelling of Donetsk from multiple launch rocket systems (MLRS) BM-21 Grad, statements about the incident are a provocation against the Ukrainian army. Publication about it posted in the Telegram channel of the Center for Strategic Communications and Information Security of Ukraine.
“Attention, the Russians resorted to a large-scale provocation with MLRS. It is reported that the city of Donetsk was shelled. The nature of the shelling indicates a provocation and an already worked out algorithm. We are sure that the shelling was carried out by the Russian occupying forces, just as they did the day before, shelling the territory of the Russian Federation, ”the publication says.
On February 22, the press service of the People’s Militia of the DPR reported that the Armed Forces of Ukraine for the first time since 2018 used the Grad MLRS during the shelling of Donetsk. According to the department, the Ukrainian military fired five rockets, and the Kievsky district of the city came under fire.

Claims of shelling of territories in eastern Ukraine have become more frequent last week. The Republics of Donbass and Ukraine accused each other of shelling. The day before, on February 21, the FSB announced the destruction of a border checkpoint in the Rostov region as a result of a shell hit from the Ukrainian side. The Investigative Committee of Russia opened a criminal case under Part 3 of Art. 30, part 2, art. 105 of the Criminal Code (attempted murder in a generally dangerous way). The State Border Service of Ukraine called the FSB statement a deliberate provocation.
