Eintracht Frankfurt consolidated third place in the Bundesliga with a clear victory. The Hessen won 3: 1 (2-0) against promoted Holstein Kiel on Sunday evening and were able to expand the lead over the pursuit RB Leipzig (37) to five points with 42 points.
Hugo Larsson (18,), Tuta (37th) and Can Uzun (60th) scored for Eintracht, Finn Porath (73.) scored the connection goal for only more active Kieler in the final phase. The Frankfurt victory could have been even higher, but Hugo Ekitiké failed with a penalty to Kiel’s goalkeeper Thomas Dähne (45th), in the 90th minute the attacker was offside.
After a short discovery phase at the beginning, the game quickly took the expected course. Eintracht dominated and developed two good opportunities in the early quarter of an hour, but Ekitiké could not use. At first the Frenchman narrowly moved, then he failed due to Kiel’s replacement goalkeeper Thomas Dähne.
The 31-year-old, who represented the sick stem keeper Timon Weiner and thus celebrated his Bundesliga debut, was powerless at the Hesse lead goal. At the presentation of Nathaniel Brown, Larsson scored in his 50th Bundesliga game by knee from near -distance. Armin Gigović, whose too weak shot of Eintracht goalkeeper Kevin Trapp, did not provide the guests the opportunity to answer a quick answer. Eintracht remained game -determining. Uzun only hit the post from around 20 meters, the margin of Rasmus Kristensen defused.
“He is an experienced player where I don’t worry at all that he is doing it well today,” Kiel’s coach Marcel Rapp said before the kick -off. However, he had to grab a second time before the break. After a wide flank from Uzun, the ball came to Tuta, which completed a direct acceptance.
A little later, Dähne showed his class when he defused a penalty from Ekitiké. Referee Christian Leicher had pointed to the point after a handball by Kiel’s defender Ivan Nekic and viewed the video images.
After the change, the same picture was offered. Frankfurt had the game under control and did nothing to the harmless guests. After a catastrophic bad pass from David Zec, Uzun increased into the corner with a thoughts.
“Can had a good training week. In this respect, his start-up mission was a reward for what he showed and invested in the past few weeks,” said Eintracht trainer Dino Toppmöller about the 19-year-old offensive player, who crowned his strong performance with the goal .
It was only when the home side became a little more carelessly in the feeling of the safe victory that Kiel got better into the game and the honorary gate. Porath met in the third attempt after he had previously failed twice.
