AZ is the leader of the Eredivisie and tops the group in the Conference League. The Alkmaarders are clearly making progress this season. Yet there are doubts about the championship chances of AZ. Telstar attacker Koen Blommestijn and team manager Hans Bakker of FC Volendam do not see the team of trainer Pascal Jasen become champions, they say in football talk show De Aftrap tonight.
“I think that Ajax and PSV have more quality in their selection,” says Blommestijn. Bakker also does not believe in a national title for the Alkmaarders. “I like how AZ plays football, but they don’t last 25, 26 games.”
