Kia EV6 named Electric Car of the Year | Car

The Association of Business Drivers (VZR) has chosen the Kia EV6 as Electric Car of the Year. The jury had a choice of 36 brands and 67 models: never before have there been so many electric cars on the market.

The election has three categories, but the EV6 is the overall winner and thus declared EV of the year 2022. “The Kia EV6 distinguishes itself in its segment in terms of range, loading speed, towing weight and driving characteristics,” according to the jury.

The Fiat 500e is the number 1 in the middle segment. “The Fiat 500e is popular in its class, scores very well on charging speed and is attractively priced,” the jury report said.

In the top segment, the Audi e-tron is the winner: ,,It wins for the second time in a row in this category. The number of registrations, the starting price and the ease of use make the Audi e-tron the winner in its segment.”

The basis of the assessment is formed by many facts: data and other figures about the cars concerned. In the end, it all comes down to the following criteria:

– range – charging speed – availability/delivery time

– sales numbers – draw weight – consumer price

– ease of use – driving characteristics – lease rate

VZR presents the EV of the year for the fourth time. The jury consists of Martin Huisman (VZR), Damiaan Hage (AutoWeek), Bart Fick (Eneco eMobility), Maartje van Tongeren (LeasePlan Netherlands) and Niek Schenk (AD).

Research by VZR shows that 22 percent of business drivers drove a fully electric car in 2021, compared to 14 percent in 2020. Of the current electric drivers, 89 percent indicate that the next car will also be an EV.
