There is no need to build new cities in Russia, it is better to do the improvement of existing ones, said Deputy Prime Minister Marat Khusnullin in an interview. TASS

“In my opinion, it is not necessary to build additional megacities, but to improve the existing ones. Any new large-scale project is a colossal load on the infrastructure, ”Khusnullin said. So he commented on the proposal of Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu to build new cities in Siberia.

According to him, Shoigu’s idea needs to be assessed on a case-by-case basis. He noted that Bratsk has a growth point and can be developed. In addition, in the near future the small town of Neryungri in Yakutia will grow.

“It is worth investing so that people live there, and not go on watch. Therefore, the topic of new cities requires a detailed study, ”said the Deputy Prime Minister.
