Kewal helps Young AZ with two hits to a simple victory

Young AZ won quite easily against FC Den Bosch. Ricuenio Kewal was important with two goals: 3-1. Joey Konings scored another own goal and outwitted Rome-Jayden Owusu-Oduro.

Ricuenio Kewal already made his mark on the game after seven minutes. He came in on the edge of the penalty area and curled the ball into the cross: 1-0. After this, it took a while before there were opportunities for both teams. Goalkeeper Rome-Jayden Owusu-Oduro had to save after a good chance for Evangelos Patoulidis.

Faris Hammouti also had a nice shooting opportunity after half an hour. This ball went over the goal. Before that, a marker from Mexx Meerdink had already gone wrong. The venom was in the tail, as two more goals were scored in the last five minutes. First, Joey Konings tapped the ball from a corner behind his own goalkeeper, but in injury time he scored the 2-1 goal.

Victor van den Bogert provided a pinprick, but after the break it was mainly Young AZ that struck the clock. That was partly due to a quick goal from Kewal. He made his second of the evening through the ball behind Wouter van der Steen: 3-1. Via Meerdink and Lewis Schouten, the youngsters from Alkmaar still had chances, but the lead was not extended.

Due to the victory, Jong AZ is firmly in eighth place due to Telstar’s draw. Jong PSV is the next opponent of the Alkmaar promises in Eindhoven on Monday 27 February.

Young AZ: Owusu–Oduro; Kalisvaart, Postma (Kwakman/54), Engel, Stam; Twisk, Schouten, Reverson (Koster/54); Kewal, Meerdink, Griffith
