Keith Richards botches appearance on Jimmy Fallon’s ‘Tonight Show’

As part of the release of their new album “Hackney Diamonds”, the Rolling Stones are currently completing a veritable promotional marathon. Like his bandmate Ronnie Wood a few days earlier, Keith Richards was recently a guest on talk show host Jimmy Fallon’s “Tonight Show”. However, Keith messed up his guest spot a bit – and came on stage way too early.

Fallon was in the middle of introducing his guest – although Richard’s guest appearance was scheduled for later in the show. While the American talk show host (who attended their press conference for the new album together with the Stones on September 6, 2023) was talking about his experiences with the rock legends and mentioned the name Keith Richards, the 79-year-old probably took this as a cue for his guest appearance comes true. Richards entered the hall waving to applause from the audience – but apparently noticed his mistake and went back to the backstage area via the other side. Fallon obviously found that funny: “He’ll be on the show – but not yet,” said the moderator – and followed up with: “How cool is that? He’s Keith Richards, he can do whatever he wants.”

Fortunately, Keith later found the right time to appear – and not only talked to Fallon about the new Stones album, but also demonstrated his well-known open-G guitar tuning, in which he only needs five strings instead of six.
