Actor Keith Jefferson dies of cancer at the age of 53.

Actor Keith Jefferson, who starred in films such as “Django Unchained,” “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood” and the upcoming “The Burial,” has died of cancer at the age of 53. Jefferson previously announced on Instagram on August 9 that he had been diagnosed with the disease.

On Thursday (October 5), Jamie Foxx shared a photo with Keith Jefferson on his Instagram profile. In the accompanying caption, Foxx shared his sadness and said goodbye to his longtime friend and fellow actor:

“Everything hurts right now, it’s hard for me to look through these pictures and relive the memories of our great time, I’ll miss you.”

The friendship between Keith Jefferson and Jamie Foxx goes back several years. The two met in college and later worked together on several projects. In 1998, Jefferson appeared in two episodes of the sitcom The Jamie Foxx Show. He later appeared in Tarantino’s 2012 film Django Unchained, which starred Jamie Foxx.

Jefferson, who in addition to acting also worked as a producer and voice actor, started his career at the age of eight as a porter in the “Wizard of Oz”. He then studied musical theater in San Diego and acting at the University of Arizona. Jefferson became known, among other things, for his multiple collaborations with film director Quentin Tarantino on “The Hateful Eight” (2015) and “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood” (2019).

Keith Jefferson most recently released one in September Trailer for his latest project “The Burial” on Instagram and wrote that it was his “most important role to date.” Jamie Foxx and Tommy Lee Jones also star in the film. The legal drama will be available to stream on Amazon Prime in Germany from October 13th.
