Kazakhstan president pledges reconstruction, praises Russian troops who played ‘very important’ role in stabilization

Kazakhstan’s president, Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev, traveled to Almaty (Alma-Ata) on Wednesday for the first time since last week’s deadly riot, where he promised to repair damage in the country’s largest city. “It is now a question of rebuilding the city as soon as possible (…) I have no doubt that the city will be restored,” the president said, according to a statement from the Kazakh presidency.
