De Sanders knew that Ajax was not the favorite in advance. She also secretly knew that they could sometimes surprise: “Don’t underestimate us.”
Kay-Lee De Sanders was born and raised in Reigersbos, where she had a view of the Arena from her bedroom. A real Ajax player, with a big dream of one day playing the Champions League in the Arena. “It was really sick. Really sick,” she says afterwards. “After a few minutes of playing I gained a lot of confidence and we had more chances than them. At the end of the second half they came closer to our goal.
