Kay-Lee de Sanders about historic victory: “Everyone really played boss”

After the sensational victory of the Ajax Women over superpower Paris Saint-Germain, Ajax defender Kay-Lee de Sanders is beaming from ear to ear afterwards. De Sanders knew that Ajax was not the favorite in advance. She also secretly knew that they could sometimes surprise: “Don’t underestimate us.”

Kay-Lee De Sanders was born and raised in Reigersbos, where she had a view of the Arena from her bedroom. A real Ajax player, with a big dream of one day playing the Champions League in the Arena. “It was really sick. Really sick,” she says afterwards. “After a few minutes of playing I gained a lot of confidence and we had more chances than them. At the end of the second half they came closer to our goal. But everyone really played boss. I’ll be honest: I wasn’t afraid of anything.”

The Ajax Women are now, against all expectations, first in the group. The away match against AS Roma is scheduled for next Thursday.
