Photographer Katja Tamminen Life changed unexpectedly and irreversibly. He became very close to death as rapidly advancing necrosis destroyed as much as one fifth of his skin. In the end, there was only half an hour between life and death.

Initially, Katja’s vague fever spikes were studied. It turned out that he had no white blood cells, and the inflammatory values were in the clouds. However, no one knew what it was. Then the situation began to become more serious. Katja’s feet began to be bruised after several drug changes. The bruises eventually went to the necrosis.
– The bruises started bubbles and came with big water bells, Katja recalls on TV.
As the waters burst and dried, the rock hard, black skin was revealed. The pains were severe. After various experiments, the right drug cocktail was finally found. The skin stopped from death when Katja was given a really high dose of cortisone and antibiotic. Next up was a major skin transfer surgery.
When they see the end result, outsiders may comment on the scars of Katja’s feet. It has hurt and annoyed. Once, one photographer wanted to photoshopa the scars.
– Why should they photoshoped? Katja wonders in a program that has been delivered Tiia Nurmilaakso.
– These are my feet. They are like that and look there. They are part of me. They can run, dance – even though I can’t do it terribly – and jump in the puddles in the fall.
