In previous years, Esko Eerikäinen has spoken directly about his Radiogala disappointment. He shares his mood after this year’s gala.

At the radio gala, radio industry professionals were awarded on Friday. Esko Eerikäinen52, has been nominated for Radio Host of the Year for several years, and was left without a post. Every year, he has openly opened up about the subject, and has not hidden his feelings of disappointment.
This year, however, the mood is different.
– I’m now on my way to the airport in Stockholm for a gig and I’m feeling good. It was a really wonderful evening, Esko Eerikäinen, contacted by Iltalehti, says by phone.
He says that he is proud that Radio Nova received several awards during the evening. The channel received the Program Manager of the Year, Music Manager of the Year and Radio Promotion of the Year awards.
– There were no personal awards again, he laughs.
Eerikäinen says that there was not the same weight of disappointment in the chest this morning as in previous years.
– It’s not as bad as, for example, a year ago. The nice thing is that when I woke up in the morning, I felt good. Going to therapy and reflecting has been good, he says with satisfaction.
He admits that he is competitive, but processing things has helped to put things into perspective. From my own Victoria-the words he heard from his daughter warmed Eerikäinen’s heart.
– He stated that he is still proud of me. That’s perfectly fine!
Congratulations to the winners
Eerikäinen happily congratulates all the gala winners.
– Congratulations to NRJ morning and Niko, and to the entire radio crew, because it was a great evening. It’s nice to be in a group of such professionals.
He says that he spent a great evening where he saw acquaintances in the industry and had good conversations.
Ilo was so happy during the gala broadcast that even the presenter Katja Ståhl Finnish during the broadcast, the gala group to be quieter during the victory speeches. Eerikäinen says it wasn’t about the drunken state of the partygoers, but about the joy of seeing each other again.
– People hadn’t seen each other for a long time, so they walk from table to table and talk. The attention was perhaps more focused on that than on the events on stage, so there was such guidance. But it’s always the same thing every year, he acknowledges.
On the way to the airport, Eerikäinen says that he is proud to work on Finland’s most listened-to commercial radio channel. He has Nova as his running mate in the afternoons Veronica Verho.
– Yes, we have good statistics, and they are looked at in this industry. We have the most listened to afternoon in Finland. Even in therapy, I went through the fact that I’m not doing this work for myself, but for the listeners. The fact that people find their way to our channel day after day, that’s the reward, he enthuses.
