German international Kathrin Hendrich may also hope for participation in the final of the European Football Championship in Switzerland. The 33-year-old had flown from the square early in the game in the dramatic quarterfinals of the DFB team against France (7: 6 after penalty shootout). As the DFB announced on Tuesday evening, Hendrich is only blocked for one game. Accordingly, she only has to watch the semi-finals against Spain (Wednesday, from 9 p.m. in the live ticker at T-Online).
Hendrich had pulled against France after 13 minutes of opponent Griedge Mbock in the penalty area on the braid. Referee Tess Olofsson had been made aware of the offense by the video assistant. The result: the Swede put Hendrich off the pitch, also decided on a penalty for France that Grace Geyoro converted. Germany equalized afterwards by Nüsken, fought for the penalty shootout and ultimately won the game.
The UEFA had already informed the DFB on Monday that Hendrich would be blocked for “at least one game”. The German Association had been given the opportunity to submit a written statement on the process by 11 a.m. and emphasized that it can also be submitted on time.
